- There are light and heavy duty anchor windlasses for boats of different sizes. The light duty windlass generally has a simple structure, easy operation and maintenance, high efficiency, and is driven by electric power. For larger boats, a heavy-duty windlass is required for mooring. When a boat needs to anchor at a port or pier, the windlass is powered by electric or hydraulic power or even combined power, the drum under the warp head rotates to wind the rope or cable or the gypsy wheel winds the chain to release the anchor to stop the boat.
