Description
- According to the material of the marine windlass, there are 3 types: cast galvanized windlass, stainless steel windlass, aluminum windlass and bronze windlass; and according to the direction of the shaft centerline, there are 3 types: vertical windlass and horizontal windlass. The vertical windlass is mounted on the deck, with a portion of the windlass mounted above the deck.
- Other components are below deck, for example the engine is usually located below deck and is thus protected from excessive moisture, and this installation saves space on the ship’s deck; a horizontal windlass is mounted above deck.
